Poets And Oscars Cross Over

Darcy Paquet, an American movie critic who has lived in Korea for close to 20 years, wears many hats in the Korean film industry: critic, lecturer, author, translator, artistic director and part-time actor. Most recently, he has grabbed the media spotlight as translator of the English subtitles for director Bong Joon-ho's Parasite, which won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Learn more

  Hair Love is a 2019 American animated short film written and directed by Matthew A. Cherry, and co-produced with Karen Rupert Toliver. It follows the story of a man who must do his daughter's hair for the first time, and features Issa Rae as a voice of the mother.  Hair Love.   This win excites because 2016 Poetry Matters Lit Prize winner, Amanda O' Mara, won second place with her poem titled Hairology.
